At-Will Employment vs. Contract Employees<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"819\">In the U.S., most workers are employed <strong data-start=\"703\" data-end=\"714\">at-will<\/strong>, meaning an employer can terminate your job at any time for any reason\u2014<strong data-start=\"786\" data-end=\"816\">except for illegal reasons<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"821\" data-end=\"973\">However, if you have an <strong data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"868\">employment contract<\/strong>, your employer must <strong data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"908\">honor the terms<\/strong> of your agreement, including notice periods and severance pay.<\/p><p data-start=\"975\" data-end=\"1057\">\ud83d\udccc <strong data-start=\"978\" data-end=\"1012\">Check your employment contract<\/strong> (if applicable) to understand your rights.<\/p><hr data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1062\" \/><h2 data-start=\"1064\" data-end=\"1132\"><strong data-start=\"1067\" data-end=\"1130\">2.
